BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team rode a 28-point first quarter on their way to a 72-37 victory over Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Tuesday night in Morrell Gymnasium.
The fourth-ranked Polar Bears, who never trailed, improve to 16-0 on the season. The Monks fall to 11-5 on the year with the loss, their largest of the season.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin left little doubt, coming out firing in the opening quarter. Bowdoin knocked down 55% of its shots, including four three-pointers, sprinting to a 15-2 lead and never leading by single digits again for the rest of the contest.
- Maria Belardi outscored the Monks by herself in the opening frame, scoring ten points to eight for the visitors, and Bowdoin built a commanding 43-18 lead by intermission.
- The second half was more of the same as the Polar Bears led by as many as 39 points in the fourth quarter.

- Bowdoin connected on 51% from the field in the game, holding St. Joe's to 31% and a season-low 37 points.
- Sydney Jones had 19 points, nine rebounds, seven steals, five assists, and a block to lead the Polar Bears.
- Maria Belardi scored 13 points while Callie Godfrey and Grace Kinum added eight apiece. Melissa Leone had five points and six rebounds (four offensive).
- Bowdoin forced 27 turnovers and scored 37 points off turnovers in the victory.
