Women's Hoops Claims Defensive Battle at WPI

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team posted a tenacious defensive effort, forcing 28 turnovers in a 46-35 win at WPI on Tuesday afternoon. The fourth-ranked Polar Bears improve to 14-0 while WPI falls to 7-7 on the year.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin held a 25-23 lead at the break as a three-point play by Abbie Quinn gave the visitors the lead at intermission.
  • After WPI tied the game up at 25 to start the third quarter, Bowdoin pulled away, outscoring the Engineers 14-2 for the remainder of the period, including an 8-0 run to end the frame on a layup by Melissa Leone and take a 39-27 lead into the fourth.
  • The Polar Bears led by as many as 17 points in the fourth quarter on their way to the win.

  • Bowdoin held WPI to 38% shooting from the field and forced 28 turnovers, which they converted into 20 points.
  • Sydney Jones and Abbie Quinn each scored 12 points to pace the Polar Bears, with Jones earning four steals and Quinn grabbing seven boards.
  • Callie Godfrey had a team-best eight rebounds while Carly Davey pitched in nine points. Rachel Storey had two blocks.
