Women's Hockey Completes Sweep With Saturday Win At Trinity

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team completed the series sweep of Trinity with a 3-1 win on Saturday evening.
 
The Polar Bears boast an impressive 12-1-0 (6-0-0 NESCAC) record. The Bantams are 6-6-0 (4-3-0 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • With 2:51 remaining in the first period, Bowdoin went ahead 1-0. Gia Massari took a feed in front from Jane McCarter and worked the puck to ultimately best Madeline Carter.
  • Emma Merrill took a shot from the top midway through the second on a power play and set up Bella Schifano to finish on the right post.
  • Maddie Wojciak added a third goal for the Polar Bears in the final minutes of the third period to put Bowdoin up 3-0 with a helper from Luna Lu.
  • With less than a minute remaining in the game, Gabriela Gross spoiled the shutout bid with a solo effort.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin went 1-for-2 on the power play while holding the Bantams to 0-for-5 on the power play.
  • Sarah Peterson stopped 26 shots in net for the Polar Bears, including a 12 save second period.
  • Carter made 14 saves for Trinity.
  • Bowdoin held a slight 27-24 edge in faceoffs.
