Men's Hoops Can't Recover From Early Deficit in Loss at Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team couldn't dig out of an early hole in an eventual 76-54 setback at Tufts on Friday night. The Polar Bears fall to 9-5 (0-1 NESCAC) while the 13th-ranked Jumbos improve to 13-2 (1-0 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Jumbos came out of the gate firing, jumping to a 15-2 lead after just five minutes.
  • Bowdoin was able to cut the lead to to nine following an Afamdi Achufusi three point play, but Tufts was able to build the lead back to double figures at entered halftime up 42-20.
  • The Polar Bears shot better in the second half, but couldn't close the gap at the Jumbos maintained their distance en route to the win.
By The Numbers
  • Tufts finished at just 43% shooting for the game but held Bowdoin to 35% and owned an 18-0 edge in points off turnovers.
  • Afamdi Achufusi scored 11 points while Ray Cuevas added ten.
  • Adam Bello and Chris Simonds led Bowdoin in rebounding with six apiece.
