Volleyball Splits Against Stevens and Manhattanville to Open Season

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Bowdoin College volleyball team opened its season with a split against non-conference opponents on Saturday afternoon in New Jersey. The Polar Bears fell to Stevens (3-1) before bouncing back to defeat Manhattanville (3-0). Bowdoin stands at 1-1 overall this season.
 
Saturday Highlights
  • The Polar Bears played the Ducks tightly, falling in a 25-18, 25-22, 15-25, 25-13 decision.
  • Against Stevens, Skye LaMendola had 12 kills and five digs while Haley Campau and Alison Smith had eight kills apiece.
  • Cameron Shelly notched 21 assists, Maya White had 12 digs, and Olivia Deane put home three aces for the Polar Bears.
  • Bowdoin then took a convincing 25-18, 25-17, 28-26 victory over the Valiants.
  • LaMendola had a team-high 15 kills with eight digs while Smith put home 12.
  • Mary John posted seven blocks and Maya White had 13 digs to pace Bowdoin defensively.
