Women's Soccer Falls in One-Goal Decision to Colby

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Colby College women's soccer team got an early penalty kick goal and held off Bowdoin in a 1-0 shutout on Saturday at Pickard Field.
 
The Polar Bears fall to 0-1-1 (0-0-1 NESCAC) with the loss while Colby moves to 2-0-0 (1-0-0 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Just over 12 minutes into the match, a Bowdoin handball in their defensive box resulted in a penalty kick being awarded to the Mules.
  • Colby's Samantha DeWitt deposited the PK at the 12:10 mark to give the Mules an early lead.
  • Colby clamped down from there, allowing just one shot on goal for the contest.
  • The Mules had several attempts to build their lead in the second half, but Bowdoin's Charlotte Iannone made several diving stops to keep the one-goal deficit.
