Women's Rugby Opens New Pickard Field Against Challenging Dartmouth Squad

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's rugby team opened play at its new Pickard Field facility with an exhibition match against Dartmouth College on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Match Highlights
  • The Green, who finished the 2023 season as D1 runners-up, provided a challenge for the 2023 D3 champs all afternoon, coming away with a 60-0 win.
  • Despite the final score, the Polar Bears used a timely kicking game, led by Evie Hamer and Ella Slaby, in an attempt to keep Dartmouth in their own end.
  • The Polar Bears displayed solid composure throughout the contest, and Sachi Mehra stood out for her tackle and work rate defensively for Bowdoin.
  • Dartmouth led 38-0 at the break and added 22 points in the second half to take the victory.

  • With the first challenge of the season under their belts, the Polar Bears will travel to play at the University of New Haven on Saturday, September 14 at 11:00 a.m.
