Mules Top Bowdoin In Double Overtime Field Hockey Thriller

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team lost its second consecutive overtime matchup in a high-scoring 5-4 game against Colby.
 
The Polar Bears open the season at 0-2 with an 0-1 NESCAC start. The Mules begin the season with an 1-0 record.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Maya Malenfant set up both goals as she dished to Emily Ferguson for the first and Mackay Bommer for the second.
  • Colby answered less than a minute into the second quarter.
  • Two quick goals in the final four minutes of the first half put the Mules ahead going into halftime.
  • The Polar Bears came out in the third quarter and scored an equalizer four minutes into play.
  • Malenfant put Bowdoin on top with seven minutes remaining in regulation, bullying the ball through the defense.
  • Colby forced overtime with a last minute goal. The Mules survived five straight Bowdoin corners in the second overtime and came back down to the other end and scored with a lifted shot from the right side.

  • Bowdoin earned 11 total corners, including six in the second overtime.
