Men's Soccer Stuns Colby With Late Comeback Win At Home

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's soccer team put together a thrilling 3-2 comeback win over visiting Colby on Friday night.

The Polar Bears improve to 2-0-0 (1-0-0 NESCAC) and drop the Mules to 1-1-0 (0-1-0 NESCAC). The Polar Bears did not lead in the game until the 85th minute.

Game Highlights
  • The Mules went ahead 1-0 in the 7th minute off a breakaway opportunity by Mario Simoes. Simoes drew a defender and the goalie to earn a quality opportunity on net.
  • Bowdoin responded in the 22nd minute. Tyler Huck finished off a cross from Ronaldo Cabral to knot the teams at 1-1.
  • Colby again took the lead early in the second half. Chase Dolinko buried a free kick from 15 yards beyond the box.
  • Mateo Pacelli buried an equalizer five minutes later. Colby attempted to clear the ball, but Jack Banks headed the bid forward to Ronaldo Cabral who flipped it to the feet of Pacelli. Receiving the ball on the right side of the box, Pacelli slipped a shot inside the far left post.
  • A foul just outside the box with barely five minutes remaining in the game set up the Polar Bears winning opportunity. Huck teed up the free kick from the left side and crossed the ball into traffic. Paul Cluskey elevated and put a header into the goal to make it 3-2 in favor of Bowdoin.
