BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team spoiled a seven game shutout streak for Williams but ultimately fell 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.
The Polar Bears slide to 3-5 with a 1-4 NESCAC record. The Ephs remain perfect at 8-0 (5-0 NESCAC), despite allowing their first goals of the season.
Game Highlights
- Williams struck first midway through the first quarter, converting on a penalty corner.
- The Ephs made it 2-0 with 1:02 remaining in the quarter. After carrying the ball into the circle, Madeline Rowland passed low to Meaghan Boehm. Boehm crossed the ball from the right side for a Kiki Higgins deflection in front.
- Bowdoin broke through 4:38 into the third quarter. Clara Noyes swept a ball from the top of the circle and Maya Malenfant stepped in to help it along. Emily Ferguson finished off the play to net the first goal against the Ephs this season.
- The Ephs pushed the lead back to two with a goal 1:24 into the final quarter. Higgins drew the goalie to the right post and made a spin move before backhanding a feed to Meaghan Boehm for the finish.
- The Polar Bears pulled back within one, two minutes later. Noyes fired a shot from the top of the circle and Caroline Higgins deflected the ball from the left post.
- Williams added two more goals to close out the game, including a successful penalty stroke conversion.

- Ellie Smith allowed her first goals of the season in a three save effort.
- Lauren O'Donald made four stops in net for Bowdoin.
- The Ephs fired off 18 shots in total with 10 directed on net. The Polar Bears took seven shots with five on goal.
- Williams earned 17 penalty corners, while Bowdoin tallied 11.
