Middlebury Scores Quartet of Goals in Polar Bear Loss

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team dropped a 4-1 conference game to undefeated Middlebury on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears sit at 3-6 with a 1-5 conference record. The Panthers remain perfect at 9-0 (6-0 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Panthers got on the board 3:52 into the game as Hanna Medwar finished scrambled play on the right post. Bowdoin survived the next six penalty corners of the quarter without surrendering a goal.
  • Middlebury made it 2-0 midway through the second quarter.
  • Middlebury came out of halftime and made it 3-0 just 42 seconds into the frame as Amy Griffin notched her first of two third-quarter helpers.
  • Griffin later set up Caroline Segal to go ahead 4-0.
  • Bowdoin earned a corner as time expired on the quarter and made the foul count. Caroline Higgins inserted to Clara Noyes at the top of the circle who blasted a drive off the goalie's pads and into the net.

  • Middlebury took 12 total shots and put 11 on net. Bowdoin took one shot and converted with a goal.
  • Lauren O'Donald made seven saves for the Polar Bears.
  • Middlebury collected 11 corners while allowing just one.
