Continentals Close Out Field Hockey in Tight 2-1 Setback

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team surrendered two second half goals in a 2-1 defeat at home against Hamilton.
 
The Polar Bears drop to 3-4 (1-3 NESCAC) as the Continentals climb to 5-3 (2-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears created a flurry of opportunity in the final minutes of the second quarter and went ahead 1-0 in the final seconds. With play coming into the circle, Mackay Bommer deflected the from the right post across the goal face. Evelyn Clemens was crashing in on the far post and put a stick on the ball to redirect it into the cage.
  • Less than two minutes into the third quarter, Lilly Truchon evened the game as she swept a ball at the goalie and found net.
  • The Continentals pressured hard in the final quarter and took their first lead of the game in the 53rd minute. Hamilton restarted the ball just outside the Bowdoin circle and Lydon Kelley came in, drawing the goalie. Kelley pulled around Lauren O'Donald and lifted a shot in to make it 2-1.

  • Bowdoin held a slight 6-5 edge in shots on goal.
  • The Polar Bears earned ten penalty corners and allowed six.
  • O'Donald made a pair of stops.
  • Abby Griffin made five saves.
