BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College volleyball team rallied from a set down on two occasions, but came up just short in a 3-2 decision to Colby on Friday night in Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears drop to 7-4 (0-2 NESCAC) while the Mules improve to 10-1 (2-0 NESCAC).
 
Match Highlights

• Colby took the win by set scores of 25-22, 18-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-11.
• Down 2-1 overall, Bowdoin closed the fourth set on a 9-3 surge, capped by a kill from Alison Smith, to force a decisive fifth.
• The teams traded the lead several times in the opening moments of the tiebreaking set, with the score deadlocked at 8-8.
• A 3-1 Colby run created some space, and Bowdoin couldn't recover, coming within a single point twice but never tying the match again in the eventual 15-11 loss.

By The Numbers

• Both Alison Smith (17 kills) and Ashley Jazbec (13 kills) posted career highs while Mina Mittler (14) and Skye LaMendola (16) led a balanced attack for the Polar Bears.
• Cameron Shelly had 28 assists and ten digs while Joy Liu added 26 assists and 11 digs.
• Maya White recorded a team-high 26 digs while Hannah Woolley, Haley Campau, and Mina Mittler all had three blocks.
• Campau also had a team-high three service aces.
