AMHERST, Mass. – The Bowdoin College volleyball team earned its first NESCAC win of the season in an impressive 3-0 road sweep of Amherst on Friday evening. The Polar Bears move to 8-4 (1-2 NESCAC) while the Mammoths fall to 10-3 (1-3 NESCAC).
 
Match Highlights

• The Polar Bears posted the win by set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-21.
• With Bowdoin trailing 21-20 in the first, Ashley Jazbec sparked a set-ending 5-1 run with a kill, and the Polar Bears finished it off with three straight from Haley Campau, Skye LaMendola, and Alison Smith to take a 1-0 overall lead.
• A close second set was broken open by a 9-3 Bowdoin run that gave the Polar Bears a 15-10 edge. Amherst could get no closer than three points late in the frame as Bowdoin took a 2-0 lead.
• Tied at 13-13 in the third, the Polar Bears used a 6-2 run to take the lead for good. Amherst got within two, at 21-19, but Bowdoin closed it out with a 4-2 surge.

By The Numbers

• Skye LaMendola totaled 13 kills and eight digs on the day while Alison Smith pitched in ten and Ashley Jazbec had nine.
• Cameron Shelly had 20 assists and eight digs while Paige Butler dished out 12 assists.
• Maya White had 13 digs while Smith led the team with three blocks.
