Last Minute Goal Sinks Women's Soccer at Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn. – A last-minute goal by Connecticut College thwarted a late Bowdoin women's soccer rally in a 2-1 setback in Saturday NESCAC action.

The Polar Bears are 1-2-1 and are still in search of their first conference win at 0-2-0. The Camels are 3-1-0 (1-1-0 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • The teams played a scoreless first half with the Camels holding a slight 6-5 edge in shots.
  • Connecticut College got on the board seven minutes into the second frame. Ella Gazo took a penalty kick that Charlotte Iannone dove to deny, but Gazo came in to clean up her own rebound.
  • The Camels nearly made it 2-0 in the 74th minute as Clare Mulvihill rocketed a free kick off the crossbar.
  • Bowdoin found a late equalizer in the 83rd minute. A deep feed from the right corner to the top of the box found Kyra Hacker. Hacker beat a defender and sent a left footed ball toward net. Stephanie Christianson ran on and finished the play to make it 1-1.
  • Connecticut College answered two minutes later as Mulvihill fed a flat pass to Maya Griffin. Griffin tucked a shot inside the right post from near range.
