Softball Struggles Continue at Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin softball team is still on the hunt for its first conference win after a pair of losses to Middlebury on Sunday.
 
The Polar Bears dropped to 11-7 (0-4 NESCAC) after 5-2 and 7-0 losses to the Panthers (11-5, 4-0 NESCAC).
 
Game One Highlights
  • Bowdoin jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. JK Bradley tagged an RBI single up the middle and Chloe Garcia returned to the lineup with a double to left center that plated Bradley.
  • Middlebury scored five unanswered runs to take the lead in the third and fifth innings.
  • Garcia went 3-for-3 at the plate. Five other Polar Bears recorded hits and the team stranded seven base runners.
  • Anna Halliday suffered the loss with three earned runs and five hits allowed.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • Bowdoin struggled to find any offense in game two as the Panthers scored two runs three of the first four innings. Middlebury added one more run in the fifth off an RBI triple to left.
  • The Panthers had four extra-base hits in the win, while allowing just four Bowdoin hits.
  • Anika Ewert and Shea Sullivan each recorded a double.
  • Maddie Current pitched a complete game with six earned runs off ten hits. Current fanned three batters.
