Women's Lacrosse Win Streak Snapped at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team saw its five-game winning streak snapped in a 12-6 setback at MIT on Friday night. The 25th-ranked Polar Bears stand at 7-4 while the 16th-ranked Engineers move to 10-1.

Game Highlights
  • The Engineers jumped out quickly, scoring three times in the first 5:04 and outscoring Bowdoin 5-1 in the opening quarter.
  • Bowdoin struggled to get its offense going, but stayed within striking distance as its defense clamped down in the second quarter, as the Polar Bears trailed 5-2 at the break and cut it to 5-3 following a Molly Reed goal to open the third.
  • After MIT scored twice to open up an 8-4 lead early in the fourth period, Bowdoin answered with goals from Lauren Burke and Emelia Krakora to trim the edge to 8-6 with 8:20 to go.
  • That was as close as they would come, however, as MIT rolled off four straight goals to seal the win.
By The Numbers Up Next
  • Bowdoin has only NESCAC contests remaining on its regular season slate, beginning on Wednesday, April 10, at Colby (7:00 p.m.)
