Women's Lacrosse Rallies But Can't Hold Late Lead at Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team recovered from an early hole, but Colby rallied for a 14-11 win on Wednesday evening on Ryan Field. The Polar Bears fall to 7-5 (3-4 NESCAC) while the Mules improve to 8-3 (4-3 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Colby came out of the gate hot, and built a 6-0 lead after just 11 minutes of play.
  • Molly Reed and Emelia Krakora added goals late in the opening quarter, and Bowdoin used a 5-1 second quarter run, capped by an Anna Kelly goal with 49 seconds left before halftime to trim Colby's lead to 8-7 at the break.
  • After the Mules scored a goal to push their lead to 9-7 early in the second half, Bowdoin used a 3-0 surge to take their first lead of the contest.
  • Goals by Krakora, Ainsley Ramsey, and Lauren Burke gave Bowdoin a 10-9 edge heading into the fourth.
  • Colby replied with a 3-0 run to open the final frame, and after Caroline Higgins cut the lead back to a single goal at 12-11, the Mules scored the final two goals of the contest to seal the victory.
