Polar Bears Complete Sweep of Bates in Baseball

LEWISTON, Maine – The Bowdoin baseball team completed the three-game series sweep of Bates with an 11-6 win on Thursday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears are 16-13 with a 5-4 NESCAC record. The Bobcats fall to 11-15 (2-7 NESCAC) heading into the conclusion of the conference schedule.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bates, again, went ahead early with three runs in the first and two runs in the second innings.
  • The Polar Bears chipped away with a three-run third off home runs by both Lukas Tsai and Reuban Siegel.
  • Kevin Murray homered with two runners on the sixth to push Bowdoin ahead 6-5.
  • Bates scored its sixth and final run of the game in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game.
  • Bowdoin strung together a five-run eighth inning to put the Bobcats away. CJ Brito-Trinidad tagged a two-run single and Siegel added a one-run single to right.
  • Liam Foley recorded an RBI groundout that put Siegel on third and brought Brito-Trinidad home. A balk allowed Siegel to score.
 
By the Numbers
  • Multiple players had strong days at the plate, paced by Murray, Tsai, and Siegel who all went 3-for-5.
  • Jason Bogdanos earned the win with seven innings of work and striking out eight batters.
  • Sam Sacerdote pitched the final two innings and allowed one hit.
  • The Polar Bears combined for 14 hits and stranded ten runners.
