Women's Lacrosse Can't Recover From Early Deficit in Loss to Wesleyan

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team couldn't recover from a first-half deficit and dropped a 12-7 decision to Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at Ryan Field. The 23rd-ranked Polar Bears fall to 8-6 (4-5 NESCAC) while the fourth-ranked Cardinals move to 11-2 (6-2 NESCAC).

  • The Cardinals used a suffocating defensive effort in the first half to build an 8-2 advantage in the opening half.
  • Wesleyan held Bowdoin to just one goal over the opening 29:49, but a late tally by Molly Reed made it a six-goal game at the break.
  • The Cardinals opened the second half on a 4-1 run, pushing their lead to as many as nine goals.
  • Bowdoin used a late charge to cut into the Wesleyan lead, getting two fourth-quarter goals apiece from Ellie Schofield and Reed to cut the final margin to five.
