BRUNSWICK, Maine – For the second straight game,
Emelia Krakora scored a last-second goal to give the Bowdoin women's lacrosse team a win, this time on Saturday at Amherst, 8-7. The win gives Bowdoin their first conference win of the season and moves the Polar Bears to 4-3 (1-3 NESCAC) and first win over a ranked opponent this season as the Mammoths (2-4, 1-3 NESCAC) stand 15
th in the latest IWLCA Division III poll.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin led 3-1 late in the opening quarter on goals from Krakora, Ellie Schofield, and Maddie Mrva, but the Mammoths held the Polar Bears scoreless for the entire second quarter and the game entered halftime tied at 3-3.
- Tied at 5-5 entering the fourth quarter, Amherst took the lead twice on Bridget Finley goals, only to be matched by Bowdoin scores from Krakora and Miya Imaeda, with under three minutes left in regulation.
- Hannah Gold won the ensuing draw for Bowdoin and the Polar Bears possessed for nearly the remainder of the clock, taking a pair of shots before Krakora finally found the back of the net with six seconds left in the quarter.
- Krakora won the following draw control to ice the game for Bowdoin.
