DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Bowdoin College baseball team closed out its spring break Florida trip with a sweep of SUNY Poly on Tuesday afternoon, 11-3 and 6-5.
The Polar Bears return north with a record of 9-4 after a 7-3 trip, the most successful Florida record for the program since 2016.
Game One Highlights
- After trailing early in game one, Bowdoin used a seven-run third inning to take game one over the Wildcats, 11-3.
- Henry Bibeau had a run-scoring double in the second and homered in the third inning to highlight the Bowdoin rally.
- C.J. Brito-Trinidad had a two-run single and Lucas Tsai and Luke Chessie delivered RBI extra-base hits in the third for the Polar Bears.
- Rudy Gately tossed a complete game for Bowdoin, allowing just one earned run and striking out four to improve to 3-0 this spring.
Game Two Highlights
- Bowdoin surrendered the lead in the top of the seventh, but mounted a dramatic comeback to claim a game two walk-off win, 6-5.
- The Polar Bears built a 4-0 lead after three innings and held that lead until a stunning five-run rally by SUNY Poly in the top of the seventh gave them a 5-4 lead.
- Bowdoin loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and Reuben Siegel delivered a single to center field, scoring Chris Dirks and Liam Foley to complete the comeback.
- Franco Ruocco tossed 6.1 innings and was untouched until the seventh, allowing four earned runs and striking out six. Luke Chessie earned the win with a relief effort in the seventh, getting the final two outs.
