Polar Bears Split Saturday Series in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Bowdoin softball team continued its strong start to the season with another split doubleheader against Clarkson and Wooster.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 6-2 after opening Saturday with a 6-4 win over Clarkson (3-2). Bowdoin dropped a 7-2 decision to the College of Wooster (5-6).
 
Clarkson Game Highlights
  • Kyla Gary got Bowdoin on the board with an RBI single to left center that drove in Kiera Dent in the third. Elise Siciliano plated Gary off a double to center.
  • Clarkson took the lead in the bottom half of the inning with a sacrifice fly and three-run homer to center.
  • Sydney Lang tied the game in the fifth as a double to left center drove in two more runs.
  • JK Bradley gave the Polar Bears the win with a two-run single to right.
  • Dent, Bradley, Lang, Gary, and Anika Ewert all had multiple hits. Dent, Lang, and Siciliano all tagged doubles.
  • Kathleen Hester pitched four innings and allowed one hit with two strikeouts. Ellie Sullivan pitched three innings with five hits allowed.
 
Wooster Game Highlights
  • Wooster began the game with a three-run homer to center.
  • Bowdoin scored in the bottom of the third on a double steal at second and home, drawing the throw.
  • Wooster added three runs in the fourth and another in the sixth.
  • Shea Sullivan drove in Bowdoin's final run in the bottom half of the inning with a single to right center that drove in Gary.
  • Siciliano had her second double of the day against Wooster and went 2-for-3. Ewert was 2-for-4.
  • Maddie Current pitched five innings with ten hits allowed and six earned runs. Ava Biasotti pitched two innings with three hits allowed. Both pitchers struck out one batter.
