Polar Bears Earn Sunday Sweep To Earn Seventh and Eighth Wins

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Bowdoin softball team continued its hot start to the season with a pair of wins over Manchester University and Ramapo College on Sunday.
 
The Polar Bears are 8-2 following a 6-2 win over Manchester (2-2) and a 9-5 win over Ramapo (3-2).
 
Manchester Game Highlights
  • Elise Siciliano drove in both of Bowdoin's early runs in the first and third innings. The first-year tallied an RBI single and an RBI double.
  • Manchester cut the lead in half with an unearned run in the fifth.
  • Bowdoin opened up its advantage with a four-run sixth. Shea Sullivan recorded a sacrifice fly, while Anna Halliday and Penelope Fong-Picariello each had RBI singles. A fielding error later in the inning allowed Halliday to score.
  • Manchester got one more run in the bottom half of the inning, but couldn't find any more offensive support.
  • Sydney Lang went 2-for-4 at the plate and Siciliano was 2-for-3.
  • Halliday pitched five innings, allowing four hits and one earned run. Kathleen Hester added two innings of work with five strikeouts.
 
Ramapo Game Highlights
  • Ramapo jumped out to an early two-run lead off a homerun in the first inning.
  • Bowdoin answered with a pair of runs of a Siciliano RBI single and a bases-loaded walk for Halliday.
  • The Polar Bears got four more runs in the second to take a quick 6-2 lead.
  • The Roadrunners found a run in the fifth and two in the seventh, but Bowdoin's offense was too much to overcome.
  • Ewert was 2-for-3 with the runs scored.
  • Kyle Gary went 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
  • Siciliano went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs.
  • Sydney Lang also tagged a double in a 2-for-3 day at the plate with an RBI.
  • Halliday recorded a pair of RBIs.
  • Maddie Current pitched seven innings and allowed eight hits and five runs. Current struck out five batters.
