Baseball Rally Comes Up Short Against Rutgers-Camden

DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Bowdoin baseball team battled back but fell short in a 6-5 loss to Rutgers-Camden on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears (5-4) traded blows with the Scarlett Raptors (11-4), always staying close and never allowing the game to get away from them.
 
Game Highlights
  • Rutgers-Camden began the game with a two-run bottom of the first. Bowdoin responded in the next inning with an RBI single by Luke Chessie. Reuben Siegel grounded into a double play but allowed Chris Dirks to score.
  • The Scarlett Raptors scored two more runs in the fifth, but again Bowdoin answered with a run in the following inning to trial 4-3. CJ Brito-Trinidad tripled to plate Liam Foley.
  • Rutgers-Camden stretched its lead again in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Bowdoin started to rally in the seventh and found runs off a Cal Thompson double and Ben McKenzie single. The Polar Bears could not find one more run to tie the game.
 
By the Numbers
  • Sam Sacerdote pitched six innings and allowed as many hits and runs. Ryan Novitski pitched two shutout innings with one hit allowed.
  • Brito-Trinidad was the lone Polar Bear with multiple hits.
  • Foley and Siegel each had a stolen base.
