ORANGE, Calif. – The Bowdoin women's tennis team began its California schedule with split results against Chapman and Sewanee.
 
The Polar Bears won their first match of spring break at Chapman by an 8-1 margin. The match against Sewanee was delayed due to unique California traffic conditions and Bowdoin ultimately fell 6-3.
 
Chapman Match Highlights

• Bowdoin swept doubles play to open up a 3-0 lead. Kamilah Karah and Cara Hung went 8-5 at #1. Hannah Buckhout and Caroline Stuhlfaut were 8-3 at #2. Elizabeth Yun and Zoe Sun secured a point at #3 with an 8-4 win.
• Bowdoin won singles matches in spots two through six.
• Hung battled to a three-set 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8) win at #2 and Sun (7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-3) did the same at #4.
• Yu comfortably rolled off a 6-0, 6-0 victory at #3.
• Julia Ross secured a 6-1, 6-2 win at #5 and Stuhlfaut also won a clean two setter (6-3, 6-3).

 
Sewanee Match Highlights

• Bowdoin trailed 2-1 after doubles. The duo of Stuhlfaut and Buckhout earned a win at #2 with an 8-4 match.
• Yu remained strong at #3 singles with a 7-6, 7-6 win.
• Bowdoin's final point came from Ross who was leading 6-1, 5-7, 3-1 when her opponent retired.
