Women's Hoops Runs Away From Hamilton in Friday Night Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team ran way from Hamilton in the second half of a 70-46 win on Friday night in Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears improve to 21-2 (8-1 NESCAC) and reclaim sole possession of first place in the conference standings heading into the final day of the regular season.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin came out firing thanks to Maria Belardi, who connected on a trio of early three-pointers as the Polar Bears built a 38-29 lead at the break.
  • Hamilton was able to stay within striking distance thanks to an 8-8 performance from the free throw line in the second quarter.
  • Bowdoin put the contest away in the third quarter, as a Carly Davey three-pointer pushed the lead to double digits and keyed a 14-0 Polar Bear run.
  • The Polar Bears led by as many as 25 in the fourth quarter on their way to the win.

  • Maria Belardi had 15 points and four rebounds with four assists to lead the Polar Bears.
  • Sydney Jones flirted with a triple-double, scoring 12 points with 11 rebounds and seven assists.
  • Carly Davey, Megan Tan, and Abbie Quinn had nine points apiece.
  • Bowdoin owned a 47-33 edge in rebounding, cashed in 15 second chance points, and scored 16 points off turnovers in the win.
