Men's Hockey Closes Out Continentals in 3-2 Victory

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team continued their strong play against conference competition with a 3-2 win at home against Hamilton.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 12-4-4 and 8-2-4 in NESCAC play. The Continentals are 13-6-1 (8-5-1 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears converted on both their power play opportunities in the first period to go ahead 2-0. Bryce Bollman put a shot off pads and Patrick Callahan backhanded the rebound for his first tally.
  • Callahan scored Bowdoin's second man-up goal two minutes later. Nate Clark passed back to Gabe Shipper in the Bowdoin zone, with Shipper carrying the length of the ice. Shipper skated behind the Hamilton net and passed up to Callahan for a laser on the left side.
  • Hamilton cut the lead in half 2:23 into the second. Max Bulawka won the faceoff on the right dot and kicked the puck back to James Philpott on the point. Philpott put a shot off Alex Kozic's pads, but Justin Biraben deflected the rebound into the net.
  • With just 26 seconds remaining in the second, Bryce Bollman pushed Bowdoin´s lead back to two. Jack Gilligan passed up to PJ Neal who carried along the left side boards into Hamilton territory. Neal dished right to Bollman in front of the net for a deflection at the post.
  • Hamilton earned a six-on-four in the final seconds of regulation and converted to end with a score of 3-2.

  • Hamilton went 1-for-4 on the power play.
  • Kozic made 37 saves to earn the win in net.
  • Jack Grant made 19 stops for Hamilton.
