Men's Basketball Drops Final Home Game to Tufts

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Tufts University men's basketball team rode a hot-shooting second half to a 77-52 win over Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon at Morrell Gymnasium. The Jumbos move to 17-5 (4-4 NESCAC) while the Polar Bears fall to 7-15 (1-7 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin and Tufts traded the lead six times in the opening half, as the Jumbos closed the half on a 12-5 run to take a 30-25 lead at the break.
  • The Polar Bears stayed within striking distance in the second half, until a 16-2 Tufts run, capped by a three-pointer from Khau Champion moved it from a five-point deficit to a 19-point Jumbos lead with 11 minutes to go.
  • Bowdoin could get no closer than 14 points after that, as Tufts shot 58% in the second half to pull away.
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin only connected on 29% of their shots in the game, but went 10-26 from three-point range.
  • Michael Simonds finished with a season-high 27 points on Senior Day, when he was celebrated with classmate Zach Goffin.
  • Simonds also had seven rebounds while Afamdi Achufusi and Kevin Reeves both had seven points.
