Polar Bears Blow Past Nor'Easters In Saturday Women's Hockey Matchup

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team continued its perfect season with a 2-0 Saturday win at the University of New England.
 
The Polar Bears improve to 7-0-0 for the first time since 1990. The Nor'Easters fall to 4-7-0.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin broke through 7:28 into the second period. Jane McCarter carried the length of the ice and wrapped around the back of the goal from left to right. On the right post, McCarter finished off the play with poke past the goalie.
  • Anyi Sun doubled the goal tally midway through the third. Sun carried down the left side and put a low angle shot between the pipes.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin went 0-for-1 on the power play and held UNE scoreless with the extra skater for four total minutes.
  • The Polar Bears held a commanding 42-18 edge in shots on goal.
  • Bowdoin won 26 faceoffs as the Nor'Easters won 12.
  • Abby Matusovich made 18 saves in the shutout win.
  • Kirsten DiCicco made 40 saves for UNE.
