Women's Hockey Caps First Semester With A Perfect Record Following 5-0 Win Against USM

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's hockey team completed its perfect first semester with a 5-0 win over the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday evening.
 
The Polar Bears conclude the 2024 portion of their season with a perfect 8-0-0 record. The Huskies are 5-5-2.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin wasted no time before hopping out to a 1-0 lead. Bella Mele cycled the puck to Jackie Miller who fired a shot from the top. Ava Provenzo waited in front of the net and intercepted Miller's puck and pushed it through at 55 seconds.
  • Provenzo made it 2-0 at 8:52. Jane McCarter stood pinned along the back boards and worked the puck free before passing up to Provenzo. With Provenzo in the slot, she put a shot past Haley McKim.
  • Gia Massari scored a power play goal just eight seconds into the extra-skater opportunity. Mele sent Massari a cross ice pass on the right dot's inside edge. Massari received and fired in one motion to best McKim.
  • Provenzo completed the hat trick with 4:28 remaining in the game. Luna Lu put a shot on pads and Provenzo pounced on the left post rebound.
  • Meghan Britt capped the game after shoving home a scrum rebound with 1:03 remaining.
 
By The Numbers
  • The Polar Bears have not allowed a goal in nonconference play this season. Bowdoin has posted consecutive shutouts against Rivier, Keene State, and UNE.
  • Bowdoin held a 50-11 shots on goal advantage and went 2-for-3 on the power play.
  • Sally Solotaroff-Webber made 11 saves for her second shutout of the season.
  • McKim made 45 saves for the Huskies.
