Women's Hoops Jumps To Early Lead, Coasts at Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team led by as many as 22 points in the second half en route to a 61-52 win at Colby in the team's non-conference matchup Saturday. The Polar Bears improve to 6-0 on the year while the Mules fall to 2-5.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears never trailed, scoring the first six points of the game and leading 15-4 after one quarter thanks to five early points from Maria Belardi.
  • Bowdoin pushed its lead to 36-17 at the half following a red-hot second quarter that saw Grace Kinum score six early points in the period.
  • The second half was more of the same, as the Polar Bears pushed their lead to as many as 22 points late in the third quarter and led by double digits throughout the fourth until the Mules went 12-15 from the free throw line down the stretch to close the final margin to single digits.

  • Bowdoin finished at 42% shooting for the game but held Colby to 32% and scored 21 points of 19 Mules turnovers.
  • The Polar Bears were paced by 15 points from Abbie Quinn, who also had three steals and a block. Callie Godfrey had 14 points and five rebounds while Maria Belardi had 12.
  • The teams combined for 42 fouls, with Bowdoin going 12-15 from the free throw line and Colby hitting 18-23.
