Third Period Rally Lifts Men's Hockey Over Tufts

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team put together a three-goal third period comeback win to conclude the first semester against Tufts on Saturday evening.

The Polar Bears climb to 5-3-0 (3-2-0 NESCAC), while pushing the Jumbos to 4-4-1 (2-4-0 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • The Jumbos scored first with 4:55 remaining in the first period. Rory Andriole received the puck in the right circle from Harrison Bazianos behind the net. Andriole slipped a pass left to Jameson Klein for a one-timer.
  • Bowdoin found an equalizer under four minutes into the second period. Michael Dinges had the puck along the right boards and backhanded a centering pass to Jack Barbro who wristed a shot from between the circles.
  • Tufts took advantage of a power play late in the frame to make it 2-1. Cole Dubicki carried the puck up the ice and found Bazianos who moved left in the zone. Bazianos passed right to Liam O'Hare for a power play goal.
  • Two minutes later, Tufts made it 3-1. John Mulvihill came into the zone on the right and built a two-on-one with Marcus Sang. Mulvihill drew the defender and goalie before dishing left to Sang who beat Jacob Osborne stick side.
  • Gabe Shipper pulled Bowdoin within one just two minutes into the third. On the power play, Shipper finished off a feed in the slot.
  • Luke Wheeler tied the game with a scrummy right post goal at 7:04.
  • Bowdoin's game winner came off a perfectly executed faceoff in the offensive zone. Dinges cleanly won the faceoff on the left dot and kicked the puck back to Will Killoran on the near post. Killoran centered a pass to Matt Roy for a slapshot.
