Nationally-Ranked Aurora Pins Setback on Men's Ice Hockey

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bowdoin men's hockey team returned to action against the number five team in the nation and fell 9-3 to Aurora on Monday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears are 5-4 on the season as the Spartans improve to 11-4.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin went ahead 1-0 just 1:34 into the game on a power play goal. Luke Wheeler put a shot on pads from the right side. Gabe Shipper quickly collected the rebound to the opposite side and put the puck away.
  • Aurora put in three goals in the span of two minutes to take a commanding 3-1 lead. The Spartans capped the first period with their fourth goal as Hassan Akl waited between a pair of defenders at the blue line for a feed from Andrew Schultz and skated into a one-on-goal and finish to the right post.
  • As the seconds ticked down on a Bowdoin power play, Will Killoran fired a shot from the right point, through traffic, to make it 4-2 at 7:18 in the second.
  • Aurora responded a minute later as Jackson Kirk's low angle shot slipped through Jacob Osborn's pads.
  • The Spartans scored four third period goals to push the lead to 9-2. During four-on-four play in the final minutes, Bryce Bollman put in an Isaac Abbott rebound on the right post.

  • The teams had nearly identical shots on goal numbers as the Spartans held a slight 36-35 edge in the statistic.
  • The Spartans went 2-for-7 on the power play and Bowdoin was 1-for-4.
