Men's Hockey Posts 5-1 Win Over Connecticut College

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team posted a statement 5-1 win over the visiting Connecticut College Camels on Friday evening.
 
The Polar Bears improve to 4-3-0 overall with a 2-2-0 NESCAC record. The Camels leave Watson arena with a 4-3-1 (3-2-1 NESCAC) record.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin went up 1-0 at 5:22 in the first period on the first power play of the game. Aidan Lyons found Luke Wheeler in the low slot for a shot on pads. Bryce Bollman quickly took the rebound and put the puck away.
  • Wheeler scored a shorthanded goal midway through the frame. Wheeler stripped a Camel skater in the neutral zone and continued toward net. The senior put a shot over Kellen Beauton's glove.
  • The Polar Bears pushed their lead to three with a goal at 5:16 in the second. Hunter Fetterolf fired a shot wide off the boards with the rebound bouncing out to Jackson Holl on the opposite side. Holl converted from the right side.
  • The Camels broke through with a power play conversion a minute later. Andrew Eberling won the puck on the right boards and pushed the puck down to Jack Houser. Houser skated in on net and drew Jacob Osborne to the right post. Houser dished across to Quinn Kennedy for an open shot from the far side.
  • Bowdoin extended its lead again as Gabe Shipper found Jack Barbro on the right side for a one-timer, with a feed from behind the net with 5:33 remaining in the second.
  • During four-on-four action midway through the final period Bowdoin made it 5-1. Aidan Lyons shifted the puck center to Barbro who fired a shot toward the right side. Justin Wright put the blade of his stick on the puck and deflected it in.
 
By the Numbers
  • Osborne picked up another win in net with 20 saves.
  • Connecticut College's netminder made 30 stops.
  • Both teams converted with one power play goal and the Polar Bears added a short-handed tally.
  • Bowdoin won 33 of 54 faceoffs.

  • Bowdoin host Tufts University on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. The game will also feature a "Teddy Bear Toss" to benefit the Dempsey Center.
