Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Hockey Falls in Overtime to Beacons

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's hockey team mounted a third period rally but fell 2-1 in overtime to the visiting UMass Boston Beacons.

The Polar Bears are 3-3-0 overall as the Beacons climb to 3-6-0.

Game Highlights
  • The Beacons went up 1-0 at 7:27 in the first period. Jazz Krivtsov pulled the puck off the left boards and carried toward the Bowdoin goal. Krivstov slid a pass to Jack Mortson skating in on the far post for a one-timer put away.
  • Jacob Osborne came up with a huge save less than a minute into the third period. Jude Kurtas came streaking down the middle of the ice, receiving a feed, and looked to convert on a breakaway. Osborne made a point-blank glove save to keep the Polar Bears within one.
  • Bowdoin found an equalizer early in a third period power play. Luke Wheeler found James Cerepak on the right point for a pair of shots. Isaac Abbott crashed pads and shoved home the rebound.
  • The Beacons came away with the win in overtime as Krivstov drew Osborne to the left post and then dished right for an open look for Mortson.
By the Numbers
  • The Polar Bears went 1-for-3 on the power play and put together a perfect penalty kill despite over ten minutes of man-down skating.
  • Bowdoin held a 42-26 edge in faceoffs.
  • Both teams put 32 shots on goal.
