Women's Basketball Cruises to Win at Presque Isle

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team allowed its fewest points in nearly six years, cruising to a 88-23 win at the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Monday evening.
 
The fifth-ranked Polar Bears improve to 4-0 on the season while the Owls fall to 0-5 this season.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin controlled the game from outset, scoring the first 26 points of the contest over the first 4:48 to put the game out of reach.
  • Sydney Jones scored 11 points in the first quarter as Bowdoin shot 68% as a team to lead 31-4.
  • Bowdoin led 51-9 at halftime and 69-18 heading into the fourth.
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin's 23 points allowed were the fewest by the team since holding Regis to 22 in the 2018 season opener.
  • Every Polar Bear had at least three points, led by 15 from Jones, who played just 11 minutes. Rachel Story scored 12 points in 12 minutes on 5-7 shooting as Bowdoin connected on 59% of their shots and held UMPI to 20% for the game.
  • Jamie Yue finished with seven points, seven steals, and six assists for Bowdoin while Starlette Franklin had eight points and ten rebounds.
  • Kate Saccaro added nine points, as did Melissa Leone in the win.
