Women's Hoops Pulls Away From Wheaton To Stay Unbeaten

NORTON, Mass. – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team pulled away late to defeat Wheaton on Saturday afternoon, 66-46, to remain unbeaten. The Polar Bears improve to 3-0 on the year while the Lyons fall to 1-5.
 
Game Highlights
  • After the teams finished the first quarter tied at 14-14, Bowdoin took a 32-26 edge into the break thanks to ten first half points from Abbie Quinn.
  • The Polar Bears couldn't shake the Lyons in the third quarter, pushing the lead to 15 points at one juncture, but leading by 11 entering the fourth.
  • After Wheaton trimmed the lead to seven, 49-42, with 7:30 to go in the game, Bowdoin shifted into gear, rolling off a 14-0 surge to put the contest out of reach.
  • Bowdoin closed the game on a 17-4 run in the final 7:20 of the contest.

  • The Polar Bears overcame 39% shooting and foul trouble thanks to outstanding defense. Bowdoin held Wheaton to 32% from the field and forced 22 turnovers resulting in 20 points.
  • Abbie Quinn scored a team-high 15 points with seven rebounds while Callie Godfrey added ten points and eight boards.
  • Sydney Jones scored nine points, with five rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Rachel Storey came off the bench to score ten points with seven rebounds and three blocks.
