Women's Hockey Ices Colby In Series Opener

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team secured a 2-0 shutout victory over nationally-ranked Colby on Friday evening.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-0-0 (3-0-0 NESCAC) and hand the Mules (1-1-0, 0-1-0 NESCAC) their first loss of the season.

Game Highlights
  • Under two minutes into the game, Ava Imposimato put a shot off the goalie's chest with Anyi Sun cleaning up the rebound. Sun's shot rang off the post.
  • Courtney Schumacher looked to give Colby the lead with five minutes remaining in the period, streaking down the ice for a breakaway. Sarah Peterson made a stonewall save on the one-on-one.
  • Bowdoin broke through late in the second period to take a 1-0 lead. Ava Provenzo carried down the left side with Abigail Ainley on the right. Provenzo slipped a flat pass to Ainley who put a quick shot on pads. The puck rebounded back to her stick and she pushed it back across the goal line as she slid to the ice.
  • Luna Lu capped the game with an empty-net goal in the final minute, stripping the Colby defense and making it 2-0.
