Women's Hockey Sweeps Wesleyan To Begin 2024-25 Season

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team came out of their season-opening series against Wesleyan with a 2-0-0 start after holding off the Cardinals (0-2-0) in a 2-1 game on Saturday afternoon.

Game Highlights
  • After peppering Sami Smith with 18 shots over the span of the first period, Bowdoin broke through with 1:34 remaining. Ava Imposimato intercepted the puck off a defender in front of the penalty box and skated back into Wesleyan territory. Imposimato's shot deflected off Smith's pads but the rebound was ripe for Jackie Miller to put back for the lead.
  • Elizabeth Kent set up her own goal eight minutes into the second period. Kent passed up to Meghan Montanaro who skated around the left side of Wesleyan's zone before dishing back cross-ice to Kent on the far post for the finish.
  • The Cardinals broke through under two minutes into the third frame. Dylan Green put a shot on pads and Caroline Kee pounced on the puck to poke in the goal.
  • Sarah Peterson came up with a massive save as a Wesleyan power play expired in the final five minutes. Kee tipped an incoming shot from just outside the crease right into the chest of Peterson.

  • Bowdoin held a decisive shots advantage in the first period (19-8), but the Cardinals flipped the script in the third was a 19-5 edge.
  • Peterson ended the day with 39 saves.
