Men's Basketball Blows Past Curry in Season-Opening Win

WESTON, Mass. – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team used a balanced attack to dispatch Curry College, 75-58, in their season-opener Friday night at the Autism Acceptance Classic hosted by Regis College. The Polar Bears stand at 1-0 while the Colonels fall to 0-2 on the year.

  • Bowdoin's defense controlled the first half, as the Polar Bears held Curry to just 33% shooting and forced 11 turnovers.
  • Keyed by eight points apiece from Afamdi Achufusi and Ben Chilson the Polar Bears built a 36-25 advantage at the break.
  • The Polar Bears maintained a double-digit lead throughout the early minutes of second half, before first-year Liam McBride scored 15 points after the break to spark a decisive 19-0 run that pushed Bowdoin's lead to 32 points with under nine minutes to go.
