Volleyball Closes Out Camels In Three-Setter

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin volleyball team improved its post-season positioning with a 3-0 Friday night win over visiting Connecticut College. The teams entered Morrell Gym with matching conference records, but the Polar Bears came away with a 13-8 (4-5 NESCAC) mark as the Camels leave 15-7 (3-6 NESCAC).
 
Match Highlights
  • Bowdoin earned the sweep with a comeback first-set win (27-25) and two tight sets to close it out (25-20, 25-21).
  • The Camels led the whole way through the first until an attacking error by Rae Wartelle made it 16-16, but they again extended their lead to 20-16.
  • Bowdoin trailed 23-21, but tied the set at 25-25 off an Alison Smith kill. Bowdoin rattled off two more kills to take the 27-25 win.
  • The Polar Bears jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the second, but Connecticut College made a five point run to narrow the gap. The Camels made a second run as Bowdoin later in the set to make 23-19. Smith and Corinne Lamond provided kills to post the final two points.
  • The teams jockeyed for the lead early in the third. Bowdoin slowly crept ahead, opening up a three point lead at 16-13 and maintaining the multi-point cushion through the end.
