Shores Scores Twice To Lead Women's Soccer To Road Win at Bates

LEWISTON, Maine – Bowdoin first-year Jackie Shores scored both goals, including the game-winner with 10:51 remaining, to give the Polar Bear women's soccer team a 2-1 road win at Bates on Wednesday night. The Polar Bears move to 2-5-3 (1-5-0 NESCAC), earning an important NESCAC tiebreaker over the Bobcats (4-5-1, 1-5-0 NESCAC).

  • Bowdoin controlled the opening half and cashed in just 14:23 into the match when Kayley Huleatt found Shores for the game's opening tally.
  • The Polar Bears held a 9-2 edge in shots in the opening half and retained the one-goal lead into halftime.
  • Bates responded 15 minutes into the second half as Isabelle Bernal's third goal of the season knotted the game at 1-1 with 30:51 to go.
  • But exactly 20 minutes later Shores came to the rescue, scoring her third goal of the year at 10:51 remaining to put Bowdoin ahead for good.
