Panthers Push Past Women's Soccer in 2-0 Shutout

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's soccer team gave up a goal in each half to fall 2-0 to undefeated Middlebury on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears sink to 1-5-3 (0-5-0 NESCAC) as the nationally-ranked Panthers climb to 6-0-3 (4-0-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Gigi Day had the first quality chance for Middlebury in the ninth minute, firing a shot narrowly wide after a breakaway one-on-goal opportunity.
  • Bowdoin quickly responded as Jackie Shores streaked down the wing and sent a cross Laila Nickelson on the far post for a header connection.
  • Just a minute later, Mia Feldman chipped the ball from the Bowdoin endline on the left of the goal back up to Day. Day connected with the ball midflight to find net.
  • Middlebury added an insurance goal in the 60th minute. Joely Virzi connected with a ball in scrum in front to go ahead 2-0.
