Malenfant Scores In Overtime For Field Hockey Win Over Mammoths

AMHERST, Mass. – Maya Malenfant scored midway through overtime to lift the Bowdoin field hockey team to its first overtime win of the season in a 2-1 victory at Amherst.
 
The Polar Bears are 6-8 on the year, while the Mammoths are 8-6. Both teams sport 3-6 NESCAC records.
 
Game Highlights
  • Amherst scored first midway through the second quarter. Molly Donegan worked hard at the stroke line to push through a defender and goalie to earn the team's first goal of the game.
  • Mackay Bommer answered for Bowdoin nearly seven minutes into the third quarter. The Polar Bears executed a tic-tac-toe passing sequence on a penalty corner with Clara Noyes eventually sending the ball cross-cage to Bommer on the left post. Bommer finished off the play to even the game.
  • Malenfant scored four and a half minutes into overtime to earn the Polar Bears the win. Malenfant reverse chipped from the center of the circle to find net.

  • Amherst held a 15-7 edge in shots and a 10-4 corner advantage.
  • Lauren O'Donald made nine saves to keep the Polar Bears in the game.
