Men's Soccer Settles for 2-2 Against Wesleyan

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's soccer team traded goals with Wesleyan to play to a 2-2 tie at home on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears and Cardinals sport identical 2-3-3 records in conference play. Bowdoin is 6-3-3 overall while Wesleyan is 5-3-4.
 
Game Highlights
  • Wesleyan jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. A turnover in the midfield gave Wesleyan a two-on-two play in transition. Will Martin came up from behind on the right side to receive a pass and carry. Martin centered to Chris Porte who sent a diving header into the net.
  • Bowdoin answered in the 29th minute as Arthur Dos Santos stripped the ball off a defender and came back towards goal. Dos Santos put a wide open shot on net that bounced off the crossbar and down to the grass. Play continued for several seconds before officials confirmed the ball crossed the goal line and awarded the tally.
  • Tyler Huck gave Bowdoin its first lead of the game with under 30 minutes to play in the game. The ball rattled around the feet of defenders and Felipe Rueda Duran before Huck booted into the net.
  • With 15:36 remaining in the game, Wesleyan tied things up with a right to left goal from the top of the box.

  • Alex Ainsworth made four stops.
  • Bowdoin held a slight 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
