First Half Flurry Leads Men's Soccer Over Southern Maine

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's soccer team scored six times in a 14-minute stretch in the first half to cruise to a 7-0 win over the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday evening. The Polar Bears move to 7-3-3 this season while the Huskies fall to 2-8-6.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Huskies kept the Polar Bears at bay through the first 20 minutes, thanks in great part to several spectacular saves by goaltender Gabe Wagner.
  • Bowdoin finally broke through in the 22nd minute on a goal by Ronaldo Cabral and then proceeded to score six times in a span of 14:14 as the flood gates opened.
  • Kamar Burris-Khan scored twice in the run, while Jack Banks, Adam Price, and Luke Peltz added scores.
  • Carlton Steinberg added a second half tally in the 51st minute to wrap the scoring.
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin held a 33-2 edge in shots, and 21-0 lead in shots on goal.
  • Alex Ainsworth (44:10) and Quinn Battagliese (45:50) split time in net for the Polar Bears, combining for the shutout.
  • Keito Ishibashi and Felipe Rueda Duran had two assists each.
  • Wagner ended with 14 stops for USM.
  • The win was the 15th straight in the series for Bowdoin, dating back to 2008.
