Polar Bears Fly Past Eagles Posting 6-1 Wednesday Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team put together back-to-back wins following a midweek 6-1 victory over Husson on Wednesday evening.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 5-7 on the season and drop the Eagles to 6-6.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin got on the board just 1:35 into the game as Emily Ferguson worked the ball in from in front of the goal line.
  • Mackay Bommer doubled the goal tally four minutes later.
  • The Eagles kept the game competitive with a goal at 7:17 to make it a tight 2-1 game early.
  • Ferguson had her second goal of the game in the final seconds of the opening quarter.
  • Caroline Higgins finished off a cross from Olivia Cunningham on the left post to push the Polar Bears to four goals.
  • Bowdoin earned a corner with seconds remaining in the second quarter and scored with time expired to head into halftime leading 5-1. Olivia Cunningham notched the goal, coming out from a cluster in front of the cage.
  • The Polar Bears were silent until the final four minutes of the game when Elizabeth Kent scored her first collegiate goal. Andrea DiTeodoro rocketed a shot from the top left side of the circle and Kent tipped the ball from the far post.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin held a 26-3 edge in shots and 20-3 shots on goal advantage.
  • Maria Levesque made 14 saves for the Eagles.
  • Lauren O'Donald made one stop for Bowdoin in the 35 minutes. Eva Filipponi made one stop in the final 25 minutes.
  • Bowdoin earned 14 penalty corners and allowed only one.
