Swimming & Diving Drops Head-to-Head Meet at Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin men's and women's swimming and diving teams both suffered losses at Middlebury in a NESCAC rivalry dual meet.
 
The men trailed the Panthers by 12 points (145-133) and the women fell 153-120.
 
Women's Meet Highlights
  • The women's 200 medley relay started the meet with a first-place finish and a time of 1:48.51. Ella Martin, Harper Stevenson, Tatum Zupnik, and Shannon McCall got the Polar Bears started.
  • Elizabeth Walsh won the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.12. Walsh earned second in the 1000 free (10:39.16) and third in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.68).
  • Martin snagged a third-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:00.09) with teammate Liv Smith coming up next at 1:01.08.
  • Stevenson also had a top-three finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.76).
  • Sydney Lillis topped the podium in the 200 fly, outpacing five Middlebury swimmers, with a time of 2:07.82.
  • Zupnik lead the way in the 50 free (24.66) and was joined by McCall (25.17) and Ella Riccio (25.88) in earning points.
  • Sadie Smith and Gwen Abbot were the top two in the 1meter with 216.23 and 181.43 points each. Smith also won the 3meter (214.05).
  • McCall earned her first individual top finish of the meet in the 100 free (53.81). Martin was third with a time of 56.51.'
  • Bowdoin closed out the meet with a 200 free relay win (1:38.42).
 
 
Men's Meet Highlights
  • Bowdoin's 200 medley relay team of Jack Tran, Alexander Grand'Pierre, Raphael Grand'Pierre and Micah Sher opened the meet with a win and time of 1:33.49.
  • Phil Bianco and Joram Kim went two-three in the 1000 free with times of 10:09.71 and 10:10.80, respectively. Bianco also finished third in the 200 fly (2:00.91) and 500 free (4:56.40).
  • Tran earned an individual victory in the 100 backstroke with a 51.73.
  • Alex Grand'Pierre topped the leaderboard in the 100 breaststroke (58.27) and Dylan Zhang was third (1:00.10). Grand'Pierre was also first in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.06).
  • Zhang beat a full field of Middlebury swimmers in the 200 IM (1:55.98).
  • Rhys Edwards (21.76) and Raphael Grand'Pierre (22.00) went one-two in the 50 free. Edwards added another first-place finish in the 200 fly (51.63).
  • Tran and Raphael Grand'Pierre took the top two spots in the 100 free (47.75 and 48.16).
  • Bowdoin closed out the meet with a 200 free relay win (1:25.12)
