CLINTON, N.Y. – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey returns home with a pair of conference wins after defeating Hamilton 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears climb to 8-2-1 (4-2-1 NESCAC) and hand the Continentals their second loss of the season (9-3-0, 5-2-0 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- The Polar Bears continued their early scoring trend with a goal at 4:44 in the first period. Andy Stoneman poked the puck off a Continental player just inside Bowdoin's own zone. Stoneman skated the opposite direction and set up a two-on-one. Stoneman drew the goalie to the left post and dished right to Gabe Shipper who redirected the puck to make it 1-0.
- Bowdoin nearly converted seconds after killing a penalty in the second period. Jack Moore came out of the box and quickly received a feed behind the defense to take an uncontested move towards net. Moore rang his wrister off the post.
- Shipper and Stoneman reversed roles to net Bowdoin's second goal with 2:04 remaining in the period. Shipper fired a shot from the high side of the left circle that was initially saved. The rebound kicked out to Stoneman just up from the far post who put the puck away.
By the Numbers
- Both teams were unsuccessful on the power play. Bowdoin had four chances and Hamilton had five.
- Alex Kozic had a 35 save shutout.
- Jack Grant made 28 stops for Hamilton.
- Hamilton owned a 41-25 edge on the faceoff dot.
